Love. is thicker. than juice.

A majority of children grow up being told by their parents that they are “special” – “one-of-a-kind.” Harvey was no different; however, he did have reason for suspicion that his family, was not his actual, blood family. You see, he wasn’t like his brothers and sisters; they all had shiny, yellow skin blushed with red and long, green stems on top of their heads. Harvey’s skin was orange, awkward and bumpy. Instead of a long, green stem – a short stump existed right on top of his noggin. Besides this, he was the fat kid. He was bigger than everyone else was. However, like any good parent, his mother assured Harvey that he was her baby and beautiful to her.

Swifted Away...

marabelle.harvey

This is Marabelle d’anjou. And she. is harvey’s. girl.

How they met is a sweet story, really. But let’s have marabelle tell it.

Enter Marabelle…

It was a normal morning in the supermarket. The produce section, chatty as usual, was going through the normal rundown of incoming fruit that day. Someone mentioned Clementines were being brought in, and I thought to myself, those Clementines, so fickle. You never know if they’re sour, sweet, or have just plain dry personalities. They vary so drastically one to the next.

Later that day, the anticipated Clementies rolled in on the cart and were placed right next to the pear pile. That’s when I first saw him. Harvey. He winked. I swooned. It was love at first site.

We talked all through the night. Laughing. Telling our deepest, darkest secrets.

The next day, word came that a new shipment of pears were to come in. I was scared. Harvey and I’s love affair would be cut short. I would leave and Harvey would find some cute, premature pear too green for her own good.

Later that night, through my suppressed sobs, I heard a faint whisper coming from the Clementines. It was Harvey. He said we should run away together. He wasn’t sure where we’d go, but he didn’t care. All that mattered was that we would be together.

So we did it. Off into the night we rolled. Never looking back.
